Teaching kids about giving when you don't have much

Money's been tight lately but I wanted to show my kids what it means to give and be generous anyway. We picked a family at church that's going through a rough time and sent them a meal. Spent maybe 80 bucks but my kids saw us choosing to give when we could have used that money. Now they're asking every week if we can help someone else. It's teaching them that faith means action, and that you don't have to be rich to be generous. This has been one of the best lessons I've modeled for them.

This is the real parenting right here. Money being tight doesn't mean the lessons have to be. We've been in those seasons too and honestly some of the most meaningful conversations with my kids have happened when we're figuring out how to be generous on a budget. Love this approach. Kids need to understand that giving isn't just something you do when you have extra - it's a heart thing. We've been working on this too and I'm amazed at how naturally kids get it when you explain it right.

Love that you're doing this while things are tough. My daughter's still too little to understand giving yet, but this is the example I hope to set someday.
