Teaching my kids to pray without making it feel forced

Guys I'm struggling with this. We do family prayer at dinner but my oldest (8) just stares at his plate and my daughter rushes through it. I want them to actually connect with God not just check a box. How do you make prayer feel natural for kids? I don't want to be that dad who nags them about it. Any tips?
