Teaching my son about integrity
My 9yo cheated on a spelling test at school. Instead of just punishing him, I'm trying to use it as a teaching moment about honesty and what God says about integrity. We talked about how taking shortcuts now ruins your character and nobody respects a cheater. Took him to apologize to his teacher. Hoping this sticks with him long term. How do you approach these moral teaching moments?
Takes guts to not just go straight to punishment. Way to use it as a teaching moment. That's the stuff that actually changes their character instead of just making them afraid of getting caught.
