Teaching my son to be a man of his word

Been really trying to model integrity with my kids lately. Whenever I tell them I'll do something, I make sure I do it even when it's inconvenient. Caught my 8yo keeping a promise to his sister the other day even though he didn't want to, and he said 'because you always keep your promises dad.' Pretty sure that's one of the greatest compliments I've ever received. Walking the walk is harder than talking the talk but it's paying off.

This is huge. My oldest is 5 and I'm realizing now that what I do matters more than what I say. Following through every single time, even when it's a pain, is everything.

This is so important. Kids remember when you follow through way more than when you don't. That's how they learn what integrity actually means instead of just hearing the word.

Real talk, I'm trying to work on this too. It's harder than it sounds because life gets crazy but you're right that it matters. What happens when you slip up? How do you handle that with them?
