Trying to be the example they need

Real talk, I was getting frustrated at the grocery store yesterday and started snapping at my wife in front of the kids. Then it hit me that I just told them on Sunday to be patient and kind. They're watching everything I do. So now I'm trying to actually live out what I'm teaching them about character instead of just saying it. It's humbling realizing how much they mirror us.

Being the example doesn't mean being perfect, it means showing them you can mess up and own it. That's way more valuable than never losing your cool in the first place.

That moment of awareness is everything. I've been there at the grocery store too, and what matters is you're trying to do better. Your kids will remember that you're working on it.

Man, I appreciate you sharing this. I'm only 6 weeks in and already catching myself doing stuff I swore I wouldn't do. The fact that you caught it and recognized it is huge though, that's the real win.
