Walking the walk after getting called out by my 6 year old

My son caught me lying to my boss about why I couldn't make a meeting when really I just didn't want to go. He asked why it was okay for me to lie when he gets in trouble for lying to me. I had no good answer. That moment really humbled me. Been trying to be more intentional about my integrity because I realized he's watching everything I do. It's actually making me a better dad and a better Christian.

Kids have that superpower of just seeing right through us huh. The fact that it bothered you enough to post here tells me you're actually a good dad walking the walk way more than you think. But yeah those mirror moments sting.

Man that's a tough moment but also kind of a good one? Your kid just called you out on integrity stuff and that means he's paying attention to how you actually live. I try to be real with my kids about mistakes. Doesn't mean I'm perfect, but they see me try to do better.

Did you end up talking to him about it? I'm curious what you said because that's definitely one of those parenting moments where you want to handle it right but also aren't expecting your 6 year old to be your conscience.
