What does 'leading by example' actually look like with teenagers?
My oldest is 14 and I feel like the usual stuff isn't landing anymore. He sees me go to church on Sunday but he can tell when I'm not really engaged, you know? I've been trying to have real conversations with him about why I actually believe what I believe instead of just expecting him to follow along because I said so. Invited him to come pray with me sometimes and he actually said yes a couple times. I'm realizing leading by example at this age means being genuine about my own struggles with faith, not pretending I have it all figured out.
This hits hard. With my oldest being 14 now I realized real quick that 'because I said so' stopped working around age 12. He catches me in my contradictions now and honestly calls me out on it. I think the leading by example thing means actually admitting when you're wrong and being consistent about what you claim to believe.
