I read all these articles about being a spiritual leader but honestly some of it feels out of touch. What does this actually mean in real life? Is it just praying with your family? Reading the Bible to them? How do you live it out when you're working 50 hours a week and your wife is handling most of the day to day parenting? Looking for practical wisdom from guys in the trenches.
What helped me was focusing on little moments instead of big declarations. Talking about why I believe what I believe when it comes up naturally. Being a spiritual leader in 2024 probably just means being authentic instead of performing.
I think the spiritual leader stuff gets weird when it's all about being perfect or having all the answers. For me it's just trying to be honest with my kids about my own faith journey, including the doubts. That feels more real than the Instagram version.
The out of touch feeling is real. Most of that stuff assumes you have unlimited time and energy which is not how parenting actually works.

A lot of those articles are written by guys who don't have teenagers yet. Once your kids start questioning everything you realize you can't just lecture them into faith. You have to actually live it and be open to conversations where you don't know the answer.
