When your kid catches you not practicing what you preach

Got angry at a driver in traffic and said something I wasn't proud of. My 9yo called me out immediately, reminded me that I'm always telling him to be patient and kind. Didn't feel good being corrected by my own kid but it was the wake up call I needed. Apologized to him and we talked about how hard it is to always do the right thing but why it matters. He's my accountability partner now I guess.

Ouch. Your 9yo got you there. But honestly that's the moment that matters. You acknowledged it was wrong. That teaches them way more than never messing up would have. Kids need to see parents own their mistakes.
The irony of faith and family posts is we're all just trying to be better while being human. Your 9yo called you out because you taught them to notice that stuff. That's not a failure, that's them learning what to value.
