Anyone else's kid obsessed with those YouTube Shorts?
My 7yo has watched the same 15 second clip about a guy making slime like 500 times. I dont get it but he's entertained so I guess I'll take the W. Anyone else dealing with this or am I just old?

Haha, take the W all day. My 7-year-old did the same thing with some toy unboxing video for like two months straight. As long as he's not glued to it all day, I stopped trying to understand the appeal and just let it be his thing.
Honestly with three kids I've learned that as long as they're not watching stuff non-stop, you're winning. Screen time battles are real, so if your kid found something that keeps him entertained for a bit, that's a solid W in my book.
Dude, yes. My 7 year old watched the same slime video probably 200 times. I think it's just the repetition and instant gratification thing. Better than random stuff popping up though. Still drives me crazy though.
This is exactly why I set screen time limits. YouTube Shorts are designed to be addictive and they nail it with kids. My oldest was getting that same loop going with some weird building videos.
The algorithm is wild. It finds something they like and then just keeps serving it up. I started redirecting to longer form content when I noticed that happening.

Mine is obsessed with those too. I don't get the appeal at all but I've accepted that this is just what 7 year olds like now instead of cartoons. At least he's not asking me to buy stuff.
