Anyone else's kids destroy headphones constantly?

I swear my 7yo goes through earbuds like they're going out of style. Just found the third pair this month tangled up in his backpack with the cord all frayed. At this point I'm just buying the cheap walmart ones. Wife thinks I should get him better ones to teach him respect but like... he's 7. Anyone have a solution that actually works or am I just throwing money away?

Have you tried the kid-proof ones? They're built tougher and usually cheaper than name brands. Still not indestructible but they last longer than regular earbuds in my experience.

Oh man, this is the eternal struggle. We've switched to cheap bulk earbuds and just accept they're disposable at this point. My 7yo is the same way - they just disappear into the void.

We limit screen time in our house but when the headphones do come out, they get destroyed fast. I started buying the $10 ones from Amazon and calling it a day.
