Anyone else's kids destroy their toys in like 2 seconds?

My 5yo got this expensive Lego set for his birthday and I swear within 20 minutes there were pieces everywhere. Not even built into anything, just scattered across the living room like a bomb went off. Meanwhile he's already asking for the next thing. Wife thinks I'm overreacting but I feel like we're just throwing money away at this point.

Five year olds are basically tiny tornadoes. My two do this constantly and I've accepted that scattered Lego pieces are just part of the decor now.

Dude, my 3-year-old does the same thing. I've learned that cheap bulk sets are your friend because the expensive ones just become floor hazards anyway.
