Being a Musician with kids
Anyone else have a hard time finding time to play or practice effectively? Love the fascination from the kiddos, but sometimes it's hard to feel productive. Don't want to push them away.

I feel this. I try to play guitar but it's hard to get focused time. The kids love watching but yeah, it's tough to actually improve when you're constantly interrupted.
Early mornings before the kids wake up might be your best bet if you can swing it. That's the only time I get any solid practice in.
At practice 4 nights a week with my kid so I get limited time to actually play myself. But I've found short 20 minute sessions work way better than waiting for a 2 hour window that never comes. Quality over quantity now.
Have you thought about including them in it somehow? My daughter sits at my workbench while I'm working on stuff. Keeps her occupied and she feels like she's part of it. Not the same as real practice time but it helps.
The fascination from them is the best part though. My kid watches me in the garage sometimes and just sits there amazed. That part alone makes the limited practice time feel worth it.
