Trying to get into grilling this summer but don't want to drop a ton of money. Looking at some cheaper options online but worried about quality. Anyone have recommendations for something in the 200-400 range that won't fall apart after one season?
The Traeger pellet grills are coming down in price if you can stretch to around 400-500. Game changer if you're doing weekend cookouts. My neighbor swears by his.
I'd say grab a basic Char-Griller or even a store brand charcoal grill to start. You don't need anything fancy to learn, and honestly the cheaper ones teach you more about technique since they're less forgiving. Get the kids involved in the process and suddenly grilling becomes a whole outdoor thing.
New dad here so I'm definitely on a budget too. My neighbor swears by the Weber Kettle for like $100-150, said it lasts forever and actually cooks better than his expensive one. Might be worth saving just a bit more for something that won't need replacing in a year.
Honest answer? Start with charcoal, not gas. Cheaper, more reliable, teaches you better technique. You can always upgrade once you know if you'll actually use it.

I went with a basic Char-Broil from Home Depot like 3 years ago and it's still holding up. Spent maybe 200 bucks. Do yourself a favor and don't cheap out on the thermometer though.
