Best cheap eats while traveling with kids?

Taking a road trip with three kids next month from Texas to Colorado. Obviously can't afford fancy restaurants and my kids are picky eaters anyway. Been trying to figure out the balance between not spending a fortune on food and not eating gas station hot dogs for a week. Any tips from guys who've done long drives with kids? Are we just doing Chipotle every night or what?

Pack a cooler and prep some stuff at home before you leave. We do sandwiches, fruit, snacks that don't need heating. Saves money and the kids actually eat it instead of fast food.

Texas to Colorado is a solid drive with kids. We hit Panera, Subway, sometimes just grab sandwiches at gas stations. The key is getting in and out quick so nobody melts down.

Taco Bell, Chipotle, and Chick-fil-A kept us alive on our Colorado trips. Three kids plus a road trip? You gotta go cheap and fast. Pack some snacks too, saves a ton.
