Looking to upgrade my setup for this summer. I've got a small deck so I can't go too big. Was thinking about a basic Weber but open to suggestions. Anyone have recommendations that won't break the bank but still cooks solid? Mostly doing burgers and chicken.
Can't go wrong with a basic Weber at that price point. I've got one on my small deck in Denver and it handles everything we throw at it. Simple is better when you don't have much room anyway.
Do you want gas or charcoal? That's gonna matter more than anything else. Gas is easier to manage with kids around but charcoal tastes better if you've got the time and deck space.
For small decks the Traeger Tailgater is solid and comes in under 300 if you catch a sale. I've had mine for two years on my patio apartment setup. Takes up barely any space.
Check the sales at Costco right now, they usually have decent grills popping up as summer gets closer. Might find something better quality in your budget if you wait a week or two.
I've been happy with my Weber Spirit II E-210. Found mine refurbished for around 250 bucks a couple years ago and it's still cooking strong. Perfect size for a small deck and your kids can help you grill stuff which is always fun.

Check Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for slightly used grills. I picked up a really solid Char-Griller for 200 bucks last spring and it's been great. New grills at that price point can be hit or miss but you can test used ones first.
