My old Craftsman finally gave up the ghost after 15 years. Looking to replace it without dropping 2 grand. Need something reliable that won't destroy my back. Anyone have suggestions? Preferably something I can pick up locally this weekend.
Went with a Toro self-propelled and haven't looked back. Mine was around 450 bucks and handles our whole yard no problem. The Craftsman brand stuff is solid though if you want to stick with what you know.
Had to replace mine last summer and went with a basic Ryobi battery powered one. Not the cheapest option but no gas means less maintenance headaches down the road.
Honda makes a great budget mower that'll last you another 15 years honestly. Check your local Costco too, they sometimes have seasonal deals that are pretty unbeatable.
15 years is solid though. I've heard good things about the Toro TimeCutter line if you want something mid-range. Not the cheapest but way better than having to replace it again in 5 years.
Ryobi battery mower here and I'm not looking back. Yeah the upfront cost is more but no gas, no maintenance headaches. Changed my life honestly.

I went with a used Honda from Facebook Marketplace last year. Saved like $400 and it runs great. Just make sure you get one that actually starts before you buy it.
