Nothing fancy needed but my old Mr. Coffee has given up the ghost and I'm tired of making mediocre coffee while my kids are destroying the kitchen at 6am. Looking for something that just works and doesn't take forever. Recommendations?
Oxo On Brew makes coffee that's genuinely good and it's basically indestructible. Timer, carafe, minimal buttons. Nothing fancy but it beats Mr. Coffee by a mile. The whole thing takes like 4 minutes so you're still caffeinated before the breakfast chaos hits full speed.

Real talk: just get a French press and a basic electric kettle. Sounds hipster but honestly faster than waiting for a drip machine and less to break when toddlers are involved.
Breville Barista Express if you want to get slightly fancy but reliable. Takes maybe 2 extra minutes but the coffee is worth it and it just works, which sounds like your actual requirement here.
I second the Oxo. Had mine for 4 years, zero problems. The 6am kitchen destruction stage is temporary - get something that'll last once your kids are older.
If you want to stay under $100 the Cuisinart DCC-3200 is solid. No fancy features but it works every single time and doesn't require like a PhD to figure out. When you're operating at 6am with no sleep and kids yelling, simple is the move.
The Breville Bambino is fancy but if budget's available it's THE move. Makes amazing coffee fast. That said if you just want reliable and cheap, Cuisinart or Oxo are the moves mentioned above.
Oxo Good Grips 12-cup. Not fancy, totally reliable, and you can program it the night before so it's ready when you're done breaking up the 6am kitchen chaos.

Fellow here - it's weird looking but makes incredible coffee consistently. Just saying if you're already frustrated with mediocre coffee, might be worth trying something different than another drip machine.
