Looking for recommendations. We usually just do the chains but my wife wants to try something local this weekend. We're in the burbs so nothing too fancy, just good pizza. Bonus points if they have a kids menu that isn't just chicken nuggets.
There's usually a solid local spot in most suburbs. Check Google Maps reviews or ask in a local parent Facebook group, those folks always have the good recommendations.

Totally understand sticking with what you know but going local is worth it. We found this place near us that the kids actually enjoy and it's become our Friday night spot. Makes it feel like a real outing.

San Antonio has some solid spots. There's a wood fired place that does Neapolitan style that's incredible. Chains are fine but your wife is right to want to branch out. Local pizza always hits different.
What area are you in? I can probably point you somewhere decent. Local spots are usually more kid friendly too, in my experience.
