I've basically had Folgers my whole life and my buddy keeps telling me I'm missing out. Willing to spend a little money on something better but don't want to go full coffee snob with the fancy equipment. Should I just try a local roaster or get something online? What am I missing?
Get yourself a French press and some whole beans. Changes the game. I'm not saying become a coffee snob but there's a middle ground between Folgers and spending 8 bucks a cup at a cafe.
Dude, Folgers is fine but your buddy is onto something. Try a local roast if you can find one. I got into better coffee when my oldest started waking up at 5am for soccer and I needed something worth getting out of bed for.
Get a cheap pour over setup and some good beans. You don't need to spend hundreds. Better beans and slightly better method will change everything about your morning routine.
Okay so ten years of the same thing means you've got reliable taste, which I respect. But yeah, upgrade time. Even just moving to a decent mid-range stuff like Peet's or local roasters will blow your mind. Your mornings deserve it.
This is my whole thing now. Once you switch from the standard stuff there's no going back. I'd recommend hitting up a coffee shop and asking what they're brewing. Most places will sell you a bag.
Light roasts hit different if you're used to darker stuff. Give yourself a week to adjust but trust me, once your taste buds adapt you'll wonder why you waited so long.
