Dad joke audit: which ones actually work on kids?

I've been testing my material on my 7 and 9 year old and the data is in:

What landed: Anything involving literal interpretations ("I'm on a roll!" while eating a roll)

Flopped: Puns involving dad activities (lawn mowing, tools)

Confusing them: Anything requiring pop culture knowledge

Anyone else have a different experience? Are some kids just not wired for dad jokes?
