DIY deck project almost killed me this weekend

So I decided Saturday morning that I was gonna stain the deck myself instead of paying some guy 800 bucks. Seemed simple right? Fast forward to Sunday night and I'm sunburned to hell, my back is killing me, and half the deck still looks like crap because I didn't let the first coat dry long enough. My 7 year old kept asking why daddy was making angry noises and my wife just shook her head at me the whole time. Definitely calling a pro next time. Anyone else learn the hard way that some things are worth paying for?

Dude, I feel this in my soul. Saved 800 bucks but spent the whole weekend hunched over the deck while my kids kept asking when we could go to the park. Sometimes that 800 seems worth it when your back's screaming.

Ha, yeah DIY projects always look easier than they are. At least you're saving money when the kids aren't using those off-weeks for activities. Did you at least get it looking good?
