Does anyone else get irrationally annoyed by playground politics?

At my kid's school there's a whole subset of dads who are weirdly competitive about their kids' athletic abilities and I find it exhausting to be around. Like, your 7yo is faster than my 7yo. Cool. We're all gonna be average at everything eventually, my guy.

Just me being petty or does anyone else find this stuff annoying? I usually just make my kid a snack and sit on a bench away from the competitive crew.

I get it but also like... that's kind of what dads with kids that age DO? They compare athletic stuff? Not excusing the obnoxious energy but it might just be their love language or whatever. Still annoying though I get it

Wait do these dads also push their kids super hard? Because I've noticed the ones who won't shut up about their kid being fast are also the ones yelling at them during games. Feels connected

There's definitely a weird subset of parents (not just dads honestly) who turn their kid's sports into a personality trait. The constant comparisons are exhausting. Do you just avoid those dudes now or try to still be cordial?

This is so real. There's like 3 dads at my kid's school who are ALWAYS doing this and I realized I just... don't have to engage? Just nod and talk to someone else. Weirdly liberating to not care about their kid's 7yo sprint times

The exhausting part is that it makes the playground feel like a competitive space when it should just be a place for kids to run around. I feel bad for their kids honestly
