This has been going on for months. We'll put socks on him, he tears them off immediately. We've tried different brands, textures, colors... nothing works. He says they "feel funny." I don't get it but now I'm just accepting that his feet are going to be cold.
My daughter never did this so I'm wondering if it's just a boy thing or if I'm doing something wrong lol
My 4yo is the same way. We just stopped fighting it and he goes sockless most days now. His feet aren't gonna freeze and honestly it's fewer laundry items so I'm winning.
Compression socks maybe? Or those little grip socks? Some kids hate regular socks because the seem bothers them. Might be a sensory thing rather than just stubbornness.
Have you tried letting him pick out fun socks with characters on them? Sometimes the issue is they feel weird and new socks that he chose feel different. My son went through this and needed Paw Patrol socks to even consider wearing them.
This is such a 4yo power move. They have to exert dominance somehow and apparently socks are the battlefield. At least it's not a major thing. Could be worse behaviors.
The sock thing is real and honestly most kids grow out of it eventually. I'd say by 6 or 7 they usually care less. In the meantime just let him go bare and save yourself the argument.

Does he hate all socks or just certain ones? My kid would only wear seamless socks. Turns out regular socks felt like torture to him. Once we switched it was fine.
