Had the best day with my oldest yesterday

My 12yo asked if we could go to the batting cages together - just the two of us. We spent like 2 hours there, he showed me his batting stance, I hit some balls with him. We grabbed hot dogs after and he actually talked to me about school stuff without me pulling teeth.

It's not like he's a difficult kid but sometimes I feel like we're just ships passing. Yesterday felt different. Made me realize I should do more one-on-one stuff with each of them.
