Is it just me or are video games way too expensive now?

Wanted to grab the new Nintendo game for my son's birthday and it's like 60 bucks. Plus they want another 20 for the DLC pass thing. I remember getting games for half that price. When did this become the standard? Makes me not even want to buy the stuff sometimes.
