My 7 year old came home talking about 'the blonde one' and 'the tall kid' and I was like wait who are these people? He hangs out with them every day. How did I get so out of the loop? Am I supposed to know all their names? Mom friends at school pickup seem to know everyone's entire life story but I'm just standing there nodding.
I've started asking my kids to take pictures with their friends so I can actually remember who's who. Sounds weird but it actually helps. Now when they say 'oh I'm going to Jayden's house' I'm not completely lost.
The tall kid... the blonde one... lol okay but real talk, maybe make it a point this weekend to get some names locked in? Could be a good opportunity to know what's actually going on in their world.
This is a wake up call for me too. My 10yo talks about kids from school and I genuinely have no idea who half of them are. Been meaning to ask him to actually introduce me to some of his friends or at least describe them in a way that makes sense.

Ha, yeah I feel this in my soul. My kids do the same thing and I realized I've never actually sat down and asked them. Like who IS the blonde one? I just nod and pretend I know what's going on. You're definitely not alone.
