Started showing my 9yo and 12yo The Office last month and we're hooked. They get most of the humor and it's become our thing. Every evening after dinner we watch an episode together. Might be the best parenting decision I've made in a while honestly.
My 12yo and I bonded over a show like this last year. Those evening routines hit different when you're all actually invested in what you're watching. Sounds like you nailed the parenting move here.
That's awesome, man. We do the same thing with shows and it's honestly some of my favorite time with my kids. The Office is perfect for that age where they're getting the jokes but you're still enjoying it too.
The Office is comedy gold. Our 11yo gets like 60% of it and keeps asking us to explain the other 40%. We just let it be and eventually they'll get it. The fact that you're watching together is what matters.
This is quality time right here. Laughing together at the same jokes builds something real. My kids still reference conversations from shows we watched together when they were that age. Enjoy it.

That's a solid show choice for that age. There's enough humor for adults and kids both. We did the same thing with Parks and Rec and it became our thing. Now they quote it all the time and it's hilarious.
