Spent 3 hours yesterday searching the grass with a metal detector after my 3yo found it and threw it "really far." Didn't find it. Metal detector cost $35, my peace of mind is priceless but apparently nonexistent. Gonna try again this weekend with backup. This is fine. Everything is fine.
This is rough. Have you checked with the jeweler if it's insured? Some rings are covered for loss if you have the receipt.
A 3yo finding it and throwing it "really far" is somehow the most on-brand toddler thing ever. Did your wife at least sympathize or was there blame?
The fact that you spent 3 hours with a metal detector is actually kind of wholesome though. That ring matters.
Please tell me you got the metal detector because you were actually going to use it again and didn't just rage-buy it in the moment.
Okay so the real question: are you replacing it or just... not wearing one for a while? Because that's a decision.
