My 3yo said his first full sentence and I'm not over it

This morning he looked at me and said "Daddy, I want waffle with syrup please" and I literally teared up a little. He's been speech delayed and we've been doing therapy for like 6 months and seeing him just... ask for something in actual words?

Not looking for advice or congratulations really, just needed to share with people who get why this is a big deal. My wife is at work and I needed to tell someone.

The "speech delayed" part is important context because this is WORK you've been putting in. Therapy sessions, probably home exercises, all of it. And now you're seeing the payoff. That's incredible

This is everything. 6 months of therapy and then one sentence and suddenly you understand why people do all this parenting stuff. The fact that he asked so politely too - that's huge development

I remember when my son had his first full sentence moment and yeah the tear-up is real. You're not being overly emotional, you're celebrating legitimate progress. Enjoy this feeling

Man I'm tearing up reading this. Speech delayed stuff is STRESSFUL and you don't realize how much you're carrying until something breaks through like this. Congrats on your boy
