My Sourdough Starter Died and I'm Weirdly Upset About It
Had this sourdough starter going for like two years. Named it Frank. Left it in the fridge too long over Christmas break while we were visiting family and it went bad. I know it's ridiculous but I'm actually bummed about it. The bread I made from it was legitimately amazing and now I have to start over from scratch. Anyone else get emotionally attached to weird stuff like this or is that just me being a weirdo?
RIP Frank. Two years is a solid run though. I had one go bad once and it's surprisingly emotional for something that's essentially just bacteria. Did you try to revive it or just start fresh?
This is weirdly wholesome and sad at the same time. Naming your sourdough starter shows real commitment. I think I'd be upset too if I let something I'd been caring for that long die.
