Planning a camping trip with the boys in October

We're thinking about going up to the lake for a long weekend. Haven't done this in like 5 years since kids happened. Finally convinced the wife it's a good idea and she only made me promise to do all the laundry when I get back. Planning to do some fishing, maybe a bonfire. Anyone have recommendations for camping spots in the Colorado area? Looking for something not too far from Denver but feels remote enough to actually relax.

October is perfect timing! The water should still be swimmable but not too hot. We did something similar last year and my son still talks about it. Pack way more snacks than you think you'll need and bring a good tent if you don't have one already.

Dude, get out there while you can. Those trips with the boys are gold once you've got kids at home. The wife will appreciate you coming back refreshed too, trust me.

That's awesome man, five years is way too long! October at the lake sounds perfect. I'm still in the thick of it with my 8 month old so I'm definitely living vicariously through you right now haha.

This sounds amazing. Nothing beats getting away from screens and work emails for a weekend. Pro tip though: pick a lake that's not too remote if you've got young kids. You don't want to be stressed about water safety the whole time.

Five years is way too long between trips! This is exactly the kind of memory-making that matters. My kids are still talking about our lake camping trip from two summers ago. How many boys are we talking and what's the age range?
