My son's starting Little League as a catcher (god help us) and we need to get him a chest protector. Is there a brand that's actually comfortable or do they all feel like wearing a suit of armor? Budget isn't really an issue, I just don't want him complaining the entire season about how uncomfortable it is.
All chest protectors feel like armor but some are better than others. Rawlings and All-Star are the standard. He'll adjust after a few practices. The real thing is making sure it actually FITS because a loose one is worse than tight
Honestly my son said the chest protector felt weird at first but after like 3 practices he stopped noticing it. The uncomfortable part is normal. Just make sure it's snug so it stays in place when he's crouching
