Saturday project - building a deck

Finally starting the deck this weekend that I've been planning for like a year. Got the permits, materials are here, hoping to get the frame done before winter. Anyone built one before? Nerve wracking spending this much money and hoping I don't screw it up. My buddy is coming over to help which should make it less painful. Wish me luck guys.

Nice, good luck getting the frame done this weekend. I've learned the hard way that deck projects always take longer than you think, so don't beat yourself up if you don't finish everything. Just enjoying the work is half the battle.

That's awesome man, a year of planning finally paying off! My advice is to have the kids help where they safely can - mine love feeling like they're part of the build, even if they're just handing you nails. Makes the project feel less like dad time away and more like family time.
