We're going to a KOA about 2 hours from here. The kids are 5 and 8. I'm terrified something will go wrong but also kinda excited? Anyone have tips for first time camping with littles? Like what's the biggest disaster you've had? Trying to prepare myself mentally lol
KOA is great for first timers. They usually have activities and stuff for the kids so you're not just sitting in the woods. The 5 year old might sleep like crazy from all the running around which is honestly a win.
Bring way more snacks than you think you need. I learned this the hard way. Kids get bored and hungry at a camping site faster than you'd expect.
Two hours is perfect distance. Close enough you're not dealing with a crazy road trip but far enough that it feels like a real adventure to the kids. You've got this.
Honestly the first camping trip is always chaotic but it's also when they remember it best later. Just go with the flow and don't stress about things being perfect.
