Finally watching the latest season now that it hit streaming and man, it's not hitting like it used to. The magic kinda wore off? It's too try-hard wholesome now. Was anyone else disappointed or am I just being a cynical old dad? My wife loves it though so maybe it's just me.
Season 3 is definitely different. I think they lost some of the bite that made the first season sharp. It's all very "be kind to each other" now which is... fine but also kinda boring?
Not alone at all. The show started with actual stakes and now it feels like every episode is just characters having heart-to-hearts. Don't get me wrong, I still finished it but it's not rewatchable like S1 was.
Yeah S1 had this perfect balance of humor and heart. S3 is like they decided to lean 80% into the wholesome thing and forgot that tension is what made it good in the first place.

Agreed, it felt like they were afraid to let characters be flawed anymore. The conflict resolution got too easy and predictable.
