The grocery store trip that broke me
Took my 6 and 8 year old to Whole Foods yesterday because I needed specific stuff for meal prep. I was there for maybe 20 minutes. TWENTY MINUTES. I left with $180 in groceries I didn't intend to buy, my 8yo screaming at checkout about kombucha (??), and a migraine. Going back to regular grocery stores. Whole Foods clearly knows how to exploit the dad guilt.
I feel this in my soul. $180 in 20 minutes is actually impressive in the worst way possible. The checkout area is specifically designed to break you when you have kids with you.
Pro tip: send your wife instead and stay home with the kids. Saves your sanity AND your wallet. That's not lazy parenting, that's strategic resource management.
