Took the family on a camping trip this past weekend

Rented an RV and drove up to this state park about 3 hours away. My kids had never been camping before and honestly I wasn't sure how it'd go with all the whining I expected. But they loved it. We went hiking, cooked food over a fire, and the kids actually put their phones down for like 48 hours straight. Thinking about doing this again next summer. Might even try tent camping if they're into it.

That's awesome. We did an RV trip last summer and my kids still talk about it. State parks are perfect for families because there's usually stuff built in for kids to do. Glad it went well.

Been thinking about doing something like this with my daughter. How much prep went into planning it? Also did you handle the driving solo or was your wife able to tag in?

That's awesome. First camping trip memories stick with kids forever. The look on their faces when they experience something like that for the first time is the whole reason we do this parenting thing. Glad it went well.

RV camping with kids is no joke but also so worth it. You get to keep all the comforts but still get them outside. Did your kids enjoy it or were they more interested in the RV amenities?

RV camping is the way to go with young kids. I mean we're not roughing it but the kids are outside and having fun which is what matters. Did you get them fishing or doing any trails or just hanging out at the campsite?

Three hours is the sweet spot distance, not too far but far enough to feel like a real getaway. I bet the kids slept good that night though.
