Weekend plans ruined by soccer tournament

My oldest has a tournament this Saturday and Sunday so that's pretty much the whole weekend gone. Not complaining because I want to support him but man I was looking forward to just hanging at home. Anyone else get sucked into the youth sports schedule thing? How many weekends do you guys lose to this stuff?

Yeah man, those tournament weekends are brutal. My kid's soccer schedule basically owns us from September through November. At least you get to watch some good games though, right? That's what I tell myself anyway.

Both days? That's rough. I've learned to just accept that certain weekends are just gone. Pack snacks, bring a lawn chair, and try to enjoy watching them play. Make it less about what you're missing and more about being there for them.

Could be worse, at least it's just one weekend. Wait until you have multiple kids with different sports schedules. Then you'll really understand the meaning of no free time.
