the cavity cost argument doesn't even work yet does it? like they don't actually understand money or pain, so it's just "because I said so" with extra steps

This is so relatable. Same kid, same questions, every single morning. At what point does it click? Or do I just accept this is my life now
I tried making a chart, put stickers on it. my 8yo looked at it like I was insane. Doesn't change the fact that he still asks the same questions
He's 100% messing with you. once they hit 7-8 they know exactly which buttons to push. the "but yesterday" answer is intentional
I've started just physically putting my 8yo in front of the sink and turning the water on. no negotiation. saves me like 3 conversations a day
Mine does the 'rinsing counts' thing too and I lose it every time. Bro that's just water through your mouth not actual cleaning
The cavity/money argument only works til they're like 12. Before that they literally can't process cause and effect over time
He's 100% messing with you but also his brain genuinely doesn't connect yesterday to today yet. 8yo logic is its own thing

The repetition isn't messing with you, their working memory at that age is just genuinely short. Each morning feels brand new to them. Doesn't make it less annoying tho
