Why does my 6yo insist on wearing his Spider-Man costume to school?

So my son has decided that his Spider-Man costume is "everyday wear" now. I'm talking full suit, mask included. His teacher seems cool with it but I'm worried he's gonna get made fun of. My wife says to let him be himself. Am I overthinking this or is there a legit concern here? He's in first grade for context.
