Seriously asking. He watches videos about it, plays for hours, draws pictures of it. I get that it's creative and whatever but I don't understand the appeal at all. Am I just getting old? Is this the equivalent of me spending hours on sports games back in the day? Someone explain this to me.
My oldest is obsessed too. I'd rather see him drawing and creating Minecraft stuff than scrolling through junk on a screen, honestly.
That's totally normal at that age, man. My kid hasn't hit that phase yet at 4 months, but I'm already dreading the screen time battles ahead. Sounds like he's into it for the creative side at least.
My 8 year old is the same way. I don't get it either, but he's building stuff and actually thinking instead of just vegging out, so I'm not complaining too much.
It's creative, which is cool, but yeah the amount of content around it is wild. Maybe set some boundaries on the videos? Like he can play for an hour but then he's done for the day kind of thing. Structure helps.

Minecraft is huge right now and honestly it's not the worst thing. At least he's using his imagination and building stuff instead of just passively watching. My kids are the same way and I've learned to just roll with it.
The videos are the real hook. I tried limiting playtime but my kid still wants to watch YouTube videos about it. We're working on a balance but man, kids and Minecraft are a whole thing.
