Wife wants to repaint the kitchen, I picked out this awful color

So my wife is set on repainting the kitchen and asked me to pick a color since I'm apparently the one with "vision" (her words, not mine lol). I picked what I thought was a nice sage green but when she saw it on the sample she said it looks like "hospital waiting room meets sad vegetables." I can't unsee it now and ngl I kinda agree with her. Back to the drawing board I guess. Anyone have a kitchen paint color they actually love? Trying to avoid looking like we live in a Pottery Barn catalog but also not like a psychiatric ward.

RIP to your sage green dreams. What color did she end up going with instead? Please tell me it wasn't one of those trendy peachy-beige colors that looks different under literally every light in your house.

This is why I never pick colors anymore. I just say "you have great taste babe" and suddenly it becomes HER project. Strategic move honestly

The fact that you thought sage green was a safe pick tells me everything. Go with something warmer or just ask her what color SHE actually wants and call it a day. Save your capital for something that matters.

This is the classic 'looks different on your phone vs on your actual wall' situation isn't it. Get a big sample swatch and tape it up for like 3 days in different lighting. Game changer.

If she's the one actually repainting it, she gets final say honestly. I learned this the hard way. You get to pick the color for like one room in the house if you're lucky lol

Ok but here's the thing - show her the sage green on the actual wall in actual lighting conditions before you reject it completely. Took us three hardware store color samples and good natural light to finally pick our kitchen color. It's brutal.

Dude sage green is NOT awful, your wife is being dramatic. Unless we're talking some weird grayish-green that photographs like a hospital hallway? What's she saying is wrong with it specifically?
