Being a leader at home and at work

Been thinking a lot about what real leadership looks like. At work I manage a team of 15 guys and at home I'm trying to be the man my family needs. I've realized leadership isn't about being the boss or making all the decisions. It's about setting an example, making the hard calls with integrity, taking responsibility when things go wrong, and making sure everyone knows you've got their back. My old man modeled this and I'm trying to pass it on.

I think the best leaders lead by example in everything they do. My team at work respects me because I show up and do what I say. Same with my kids - they respect consistency more than anything else.

Real leadership is listening more than talking. I learned that managing my team but it applies just as much to being a dad. Kids will follow you if they feel heard.

Managing 15 guys at work is one thing, but leadership at home is a whole different ballgame. I think the key is being consistent in both places - your family needs to see the same steady person you are with your team. You got this.

That's a great question to be asking yourself. I try to lead by example with my kids, whether it's working on a project in the garage or just being present when they need me. The balance between being strong and being vulnerable is what I think real leadership looks like.

Leadership at home and at work is totally different though right? Managing 15 guys is about delegating and meetings. Managing kids is just trying to keep them alive and teach them respect. Both matter but in different ways.

The hardest part is leaving work leadership at work and not bringing that boss energy home. Home needs a different kind of leader.
