Being the leader of your household without being a tyrant

Just realized my 16 year old has been looking to me to make the final call on family stuff but I've been kicking decisions around instead of owning them. Whether it's where we go on vacation or how we handle something with school, the kid needs to see his dad make decisions with confidence and conviction, even if people disagree. That's leadership. Started being more decisive this week and honestly it's made family time less stressful. Anyone else struggled with this balance between leading and listening?
