Being the leader your family needs

Been thinking a lot about what it really means to be the head of household. It's not about being the loudest or always being right. It's about making the hard decisions with grace and standing by them, taking care of your people, and leading by example. My wife and I have been struggling lately and I realized I'd gotten soft, wasn't being the man she needed me to be. Started getting back to basics, being more decisive, more present. Things are getting better.

Totally agree man. My daughter calls me out constantly when I'm being a hypocrite, and honestly that's made me a better dad. Leadership is about integrity, not authority.

This right here. Being a leader means listening more than talking, at least that's what I'm learning with my three boys. It's about setting the example they actually want to follow, not just laying down the law.

This resonates with me. Being the leader doesn't mean you have all the answers or that everyone automatically listens to you. It's about showing up consistently, making decisions with the family in mind, and being someone they can count on.

I think being a leader in your family is about listening more than directing. Asking your kids what they think, considering your partner's perspective, admitting when you're wrong. That's what my son sees as strength.

What does 'head of household' even mean in 2024? For me it's less about authority and more about responsibility. Making sure bills are paid, kids are safe, and everyone knows they matter. That's the leadership that counts.
