Being the provider for your family still matters
Had a coworker yesterday say that the whole idea of a man being the primary provider is sexist. I disagree. I work 50 hours a week because that's my responsibility as the head of my household. It's not about her being less than, it's about me stepping up and carrying the weight. My wife has chosen to focus more on home and kids right now and I respect her choice. But my duty is to make sure we're secure, our bills are paid, and my family is taken care of. That's not outdated, that's love expressed through responsibility.
Depends on what you mean by provider. If you mean being responsible for the family's wellbeing, yeah that always matters. If you mean only men should work and women should stay home, then maybe your coworker has a point. Context matters.
