Being the rock for your family
My wife's been really stressed with work stuff and I noticed the house was getting out of order. Instead of complaining I just started handling it. Made breakfast, packed lunches, got the kids ready, cleaned up dinner. When she got home I could see the weight lift off her shoulders. This is what being a man means to me. You don't do it for praise or to be told you're doing great. You do it because your family depends on you and that's an honor. The old guys knew what they were talking about.
This is what I try to do when my wife has a rough week. It's not about being a hero, it's just about stepping up when someone you love needs it. Sounds like you got it right.
I needed to read this today. My wife's been stretched thin and I've been waiting for her to ask for help instead of just seeing the mess and doing something about it. Thanks for the reality check.
