Caught my kid lying - how do you handle it
My son told me he finished his homework then I found out from his teacher he didn't turn anything in. When I confronted him he tried to lie again. I got angry real quick. Later I talked to him about how men own their mistakes instead of making them worse by lying about them. Took a page from my granddad's handbook and we worked it out together. No excuses but understanding. He apologized to his teacher. Just wanted to say that old school accountability actually works if you do it right.
Oof, double lie is frustrating. When my son pulled this kind of thing I had to sit down and ask what was really going on - sometimes it's not about dishonesty, it's about stress or struggling with something he didn't want to admit. Worth digging into.
