Not going to be graphic about it but found some stuff on his laptop that made my stomach drop. Part of me wants to blow up but I remember being 15 and I know what the internet is like now. Need to handle this like a man not like a hothead. Planning to sit him down tonight and talk about it with respect but also with boundaries. Any of you been through this? How'd you approach it?
First instinct is probably going to be anger but I'd sleep on it before saying anything. Teens are curious and it's pretty normal even if it makes us uncomfortable. How you react matters more than the incident itself.
Depending on what it was, you might want to focus more on healthy habits and respect rather than shame. That's what my therapist friend always says when this topic comes up.
This happened with my oldest last year. I talked to my own dad about it and he said this is basically a rite of passage for teenage boys. Still made me feel sick but it helped to know it wasn't some sign he was going down a bad path.
Did you talk to him about it yet or are you still processing? Sometimes just giving yourself a day to calm down helps you have a better conversation instead of just reacting.

That's rough man. How did you handle it? I found some questionable stuff on my son's history once and just pretended I didn't see it because I was terrified to have the conversation.
